The Crooks Family in Hertfordshire
I think perhaps a glimpse of my wifes Ancestry may start me off on a train of interesting
thoughts.
Shephall Parish records is the start of her mothers roots and Aston Parish records
is the start of her Fathers, it is absolutely fascinating researching as the records
are comparitively easy to find being local.
Local is definately what they are not, as I found after I started the research. Iam
getting e-mails from all corners of the earth from people who have seen my research
on the internet and are related to my wife in a roundabout way. I would recommend
that everyone should try to find out as much as they can about their familys past.
I did try to research my own past but didnt get far because my wifes past took up
all of my time. Luckily Iam well retired now and my ailments mean I can spend some
time sitting at my laptop. I must say that I wish I had asked my relatives a lot
more questions when they were alive instead of having to find records after they
have gone. Iam a Geordie born but I have been in Hertfordshire for so long it has
got into my bones, and I think it is looking into the past that has turned me into
a “Hedgehog”.
This is the penultimate page and I am a bit undecided what to do here, but the last
